Recycling DIY : a new pencil pot!

The key of success? Organization! Whether you’re on your way to school or office, it’s time to tidy up your stuff!

Few weeks ago, we offered you the first part of this recycling DIY: a small garden of aromatic herbs, made of tin cans! Once again, you can give your tin cans a second life, by recycling them into pencil pots. Time to say (almost ;-)) goodbye to the mess on your desk!

The equipment:
You need…

– 1 tin can
– 1 small spool of rope (macramé or jute)
– Glue or hot glue gun
– Colorful yarn for pompons (optional)

How to:

1. Turn on your glue gun and let it warm. In the meantime, remove the label from the can, wash and dry it.

2. Put a first point of glue at the bottom of the can and directly place the rope on it. Firmly stretch the rope by rolling it around the can. Add a glue point every 2 or 3cm to fix the rope to the can.
3. Once you reach the top of the can, cut the rope. Add a last glue point at the tip to fix the rope and prevent fraying.

Small tip: use a kitchen towel to help you holding the can on the table while fixing the rope!

On more thing: you can add pompons for a more feminine style 😉
To do it, stop fixing the rope a few centimeters before the top of the can, stick your pompons, and cover the fixing points with the rope.

You no longer have excuses to spread your pens, highlighters and other pencils all over your desk. Don’t wait any longer to make it your own style and impress your colleagues with a DIY (not only in your plate!) thanks to your new pencil pot! 😉
