With the return of the sunny days, the “restless leg syndrome” and the call of the green tickle as again.
Most of the time I run alone. However, sharing a day out and showing my spots to my partner of the day or even be guided by him into unknown paths to discover new playing fields is a great motivation to put on my running shoes.
I am (like many people from Clermont-Ferrand) in love with our Chaine des Puys. This feeling of vastness 100% nature a few steps away from downtown makes this little portion of land capture my mind. Of course, everyone can argue about his spot being the best, but after 20 years running in France and all over the world, I always feel the same enthusiasm when I park my car at the Muletiers parking lot…
So, by pure Auvergnat chauvinism (I fully assume), here is a small selection of my favourite volcanos…
Le Puy de Pariou
This is clearly not the highest but one of the most emblematic.
Le Puy de Côme
One of the less known. The view of the Puy-de-Dôme is just wonderful.
Le Puy de la Vache
The top of the hill is covered with the famous pozzuolana. Sunrises at the top are unforgettable.
Le Puy des Gouttes
A different view on the Puy-de-Dôme and a more secret spot of the Chaine des Puys.
Le Cliersou
And its famous caves from another time.
All these volcanos are a small part of the potential of what you can find up there. You just need to get into your running shoes and let yourself be guided along the trail through the volcanos.
Anyways,I’m going back 🙂
