Since December 1, children have been enjoying every morning discovering the mischief their favorite elf has been up to during the night. And guess what? At monbento®, too, prankster elves have become part of our daily lives! Discover the little jokes they’ve played on us …
What is the story behind Elf on the Shelf?
From grocery stores to our homes and even on social networks: this year, elves are everywhere! This tradition comes straight from North America and adds a touch of whimsy to our Christmas preparations. Just like advent calendars, the elves help children wait eagerly for Santa to arrive. And they guarantee fun memories for parents too, who will bring these Christmas elves to life every morning, in ever more surprising settings!
So, what’s the story behind this Elf on the Shelf tradition? After months of intensive crafting, preparing, and wrapping Christmas gifts, Santa sends his little elves to the children’s home for a little rest, while keeping an eye on them. Indeed, every night, the elves teleport back to the North Pole to report to Santa whether children have been nice or a bit naughty. Upon their return to the house, the elves leave fun little surprises for the kids to discover in the early morning. Every night brings a new prank!
Believe it or not, this year at monbento® we’ve also adopted some elves, including Waffle, our head prankster! Every morning, we discover the tricks they’ve played on us – perhaps they’ll inspire your elves…
What does Elf on the Shelf do?
In addition to occasionally swapping products in your packages, Waffle and his elf friends leave us little surprises that we discover every morning! Here are some of the best ones we’d like to share with you:
- Just before leaving, we saw the mischievous little head of our Elf on the Shelf poking out from the MB Buddy children’s backpack (seems that this elf doesn’t always win at hide-and-seek!)
- Our sweet Elf on the Shelf also mistook our MB Pop insulated water bottle for a mechanical bull.
- When we went to grab our MB Original lunch box from the fridge at lunchtime, we were surprised to discover that Waffle had settled on top of it to take a refreshing nap.
- The day before, he had snatched the customization token from the MB Tresor kids’ bento box and had drawn Santa Claus juggling on it.
- We also caught Waffle using the fork from the MB Slim Box cutlery set to scratch his back!
- Waffle’s prankster buddies had fun filling our MB Positive M reusable bottles with Christmas confetti.
- At monbento®, we love to share… but when candy is involved, it’s a different story! So, imagine how surprised we were when we caught Waffle helping himself from our MB Gram snack box…
- Overnight, Waffle and his friends were obviously in a dancing mood as they turned our MB Wonder children’s lunch box tray into a dance floor.
- Waffle turned our fantastic, insulated children’s water bottle, the MB Cooly, into a swing! Fortunately, this bottle has an anti-clattering silicone base, otherwise he would have woken up the whole neighborhood in case of a fall!
- This morning, we found Waffle enjoying a nice, warm bath (jacuzzi mode activated 😎) in the MB Element insulated lunch box!
- Waffle also tried to steal our Christmas decorations, but luckily our tree is still here!
- Going wild, the elves launched a hula hoop contest using the elastic bands from the Made in France children’s lunch box, the MB Foodie, as hoops.
- Our goofy elves are definitely not the best at hide-and-seek: they tried to hide in our MB Jar salad bowl… but they forgot that its walls are fully transparent!
