If you want to eat better, dare the snack break!

The snack? Well, you know, it is this little sweet break you have after a long school or work day. Yes, “work day”, because contrarily to common beliefs 65% of the French adult population enjoys an occasional or a systematic snack when it comes home from work, says a study on feeding behaviour conducted by the CREDOC. And they are right, because the image of the “big bad snack” which makes a mess in your food balance has really disappeared.

Yes, having a snack in the late afternoon is IM-POR-TANT!

No way you should skip it! It helps refill the batteries but also allows for a more relaxed and light dinner. Thanks to the snack, no more waves of tiredness at the end of the afternoon or craves for high calorie candies or chips. Calories are better spread out through the day which favours a balanced diet.

When is the best time for a snack?

Traditionally, you enjoy this break when you get home from work, around 6pm. There is no real rule, but it is better to take it early to avoid leaving a plate full at dinner! In addition, it is the time when this break is the most beneficial!

Good to know: this ritual must take place at a fixed time each day, including weekends and holidays. This allows for your body to adopt a good pace and your stomach to regulate.

And what is on the menu?

To fulfil its role best, the snack must be good and healthy. The perfect snack includes: 1 starch, 1 dairy product, 1 fruit and some water. For ideas, here is a medley of good things to eat at snack time: bread/cheese/apple, a bowl of muesli/white cheese/red fruits, a glass of milk/ a few almonds or dried apricots…

But let’s make it clear, the best snack is the homemade one. So, if you are not at home on time, prepare your snack and slip it in your MB Gram, your MB Lib or your MB Positive!

Ah, here we are, I think it’s snack time! You’ll have a little something, won’t you? 😉
