10 anti-waste tips

 

In the world, more than 1/3 of food processed is lost or wasted. However, there are simple reflexes than can help to reduce this food waste! At monbento, we find out 10 daily tips to eat smarter and save money 😉

 

Make a smart shopping list: a well-prepared shopping list means less chances of forgetting things or making unnecessary purchases!

 

Maintain the cold chain: to extend the food shelf life, especially during summer, take an isotherm bag along to carry your food from the supermarket to your fridge.

 

Organize the fridge: put the most recent purchases on the back of the shelf and those with the closest “use by date” up in front 😉

 

Distinguish use-by date and durability limit: the durability limit is the date by which the product may lose some of its savour. However, it can still be eaten! Do not systematically throw the food passed this date!

 

Cook peels: pea pod soup, apple skin chips or radish top gratin, everything can be transformed! Even more: it is very yummy!

 

 

Use adapted containers: there is no need to use a large pot to cook for one person!

 

Reuse the leftover food: do yummy recipes with leftovers not to waste anything!

 

Freeze or share: too much food? Freeze your meal for next week or share with your neighbour or colleague (and make them happy! ;-)).

 

Fruits and vegetables recycling: Your strawberries have gone withered? Compost them! Cherry on the top, you will get amazing tomatoes next year!

 

Adopt a doggy bag: goodbye food waste! Bring a bento box to the restaurant and enjoy a nice meal the next day at the office!
