DIY special Mother’s Day – A heart origami full of tenderness

Because he loves his mum, your little gourmet wants her to be the happiest for Mother’s Day. And it is well known that using his own smalls hands to make her a present remains what he prefers.

Well, yes we all know about the traditional noodle necklace… But as there is no age to be original and please the ones we love, here is a simple and quick origami heart to cover your mum with love on her special day.

For this workshop, you’ll need:

–          a set of square origami paper or coloured sheets of paper

–          a ruler

–          a pencil

–          a pen

For the different steps to follow, have a peek at this video (special thanks to Sikana Arts!):

To summarize:

1)     Cut up the paper to get squares of different sizes.

2)     Fold each square in half along its diagonal.

3)     Carefully fold successively the two smaller corner angles and mark the fold by pressing strongly. You get a smaller square.

4)     Turn the square over, keeping it in the same position.

5)     Fold loose top half in its middle to meet the opposite lower corner. Two “ears” like triangles must appear.

6)     Fold each “ear” along the horizontal line bringing each top corner to opposite side corner. Now, you almost have a heart!

7)     Turn over this heart and open it to write little love words on the central part. Close back and turn your heart over again.

8)     Open each “ear” at one end and fold it inwards to obtain two small triangles overlapping to form the top of the heart.

9)     Finally, slightly fold each of the four top corners of the heart to give it some rounder effect, turn the heart over once more
and here you are! 😉

Your little artist can now slip his multiples creations in his MB Tresor and offer them to his mum! As for us, we wish you a happy Mother’s Day!
