Cosplay is a mix of the words « costume » and « playing ». It is a Japanese subculture that consists of dressing up to look like favorite characters. Contrary to the japanese kawaii look, men are also into this fashion trend.
Cosplayers do not buy items. Instead they take time and pride in making their costumes, wigs and make up by themselves. The goal is to look as similar as possible to the character they are trying to reproduce.
They don’t only recreate their heroes’ physical appearance. Cosplayers also imitate the characters’ behavior and gestures. They even sometimes do roleplaying or mock fights.
